Job Summary

The Student Health & Wellness department is currently seeking a student to join their team of professionals.
Duties to include:

Serve as an ambassador for Student Health & Wellness (SHW) Assist in developing, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities Assists with the completion of monthly reports, data collection, and promotion of SHW events and initiatives May be assigned to primarily assist one or more units

Overall Duties

  • Manages tabling for university activities including the following but not limited to:
  • Freshmen and Transfer Orientation Sessions
  • Freshmen Convocation
  • Admitted Student Days
  • Week of Welcome
  • Serves as social media contributors when requested by Marketing & Communications team
  • May be featured on video and other media content as part of on-going promotional efforts
  • Must be willing to educate on sensitive topics based on assigned unit which includes contraceptives, LGBTQ topics, sexual assault, homelessness, food insecurity, death in the family, or other serious concerns
  • Will complete NASPA peer education certification
  • Participates in an SHW training session led by program leadership
  • Oversight of these activities and duties would occur or be assigned based on requests and department need

Unit-Specific Duties
Dean of Students (DOS)

  • Assist in developing, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities at FIU sites which is inclusive of DOS-specific workshops, presentations, events, etc
  • Assists with the completion of monthly reports which includes work performed, participant data collection and entry as well as outreach/self-evaluation summaries

Healthy Living Program (HLP)

  • Assists with preparations for services and product distribution such as aromatherapy, packaging contraceptives, giveaways, etc
  • Assists in developing, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities at FIU sites which is inclusive of HLP-specific workshops, presentations, events, etc
  • Assists with the completion of monthly reports, which includes work performed, participant data collection and entry and evaluation summaries

Marketing & Communications (MC)

  • Assist with market research, focus groups, and trends analyses
  • Assist with promotion schedules of SHW events and awareness initiatives

Desired Qualifications

At least 1 semester of FIU work experience or related experience outside the University with satisfactory or higher from prior student appointment

Who May Apply
  • Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
  • Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.
Work Schedule

Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of the department.
