Job Title: Quality Manager
Department: Quality
Reports To: President
Reporting Shift: Monday-Friday, Schedule during hours of 7:00am-5:00pm
Compensation: $100,000/Salary

Position Summary

The Quality Manager is responsible for the overall quality leadership and document control of an ISO9001 certified company. They will oversee the quality control lab, quality inspection process, ISO Certification / Compliance, Quality Management System, as well as our Non-conformance/CAR process. They understand the critical role they play to assure our customers that product specifications and requirements are met.

The successful Quality and Compliance Manager will have a track record of driving continuous quality improvement as well as sound quality processes and procedures in a manufacturing environment. This will result in:

  • Year over year reduction in non-conformances
  • Timely QC analysis and reporting of manufactured materials and products
  • Continuous ISO certification - to the ISO 9001-2015 standard

The Quality Manager holds a leadership role in the business, and plays an important part of fostering a Quality minded culture in the organization.

They understand that a customer with a problem requires an urgent solution. They mobilize cross-functional teams to correct the problem.

The best Quality Manager can filter through noise, identify a problem, and lead the team to a lasting solution, that has fully considered the economic implications.

They understand the value simplicity can bring to documentation, processes, and solutions.

They are proactive - always looking for ways to improve processes, communication and address problems before they occur versus taking a reactive approach.

They are comfortable prioritizing multiple tasks/projects, and can easily adjust if business conditions cause them to shuffle.

They take ownership of their metrics and projects and are able to acknowledge successes and failures to learn from them.

Description of Job Functions

Ensure that a Quality Department representative acknowledges all customer complaints within 24 hours. Establish a meeting rhythm to discuss non-conformances and make sure corrective actions are in place within 14 days.

Owns the Non-Conformance/Corrective Action process at SSP. This person works with cross-functional Team Members to determine and document root causes. They will help these teams identify and implement corrective actions for all internal and customer non-conformances.

They track all non-conformances and other quality KPI's to identify trends in the business as well as suggest areas for focus.

They are responsible for managing our QMS and all of the documents stored therein. They are the gatekeeper for document changes, review, and approvals.

Represent SSP for all customer quality audits, including interfacing with customers as needed to improve the customer satisfaction experience.

Lead SSP's quarterly ISO management review

Ensure the organization is compliant with the ISO 9001-2015 standard

Oversee the quality lab and manage members of the QC team

Participate in daily production meetings, or designate a member of the team to participate as needed.

Monitor Suppliers to ensure they meet our specifications and requirements. Periodically audit key suppliers to ensure compliance with ours and our customers' requirements.

Responsible for the planning and execution of internal audits.

Responsible for driving the quality culture throughout SSP.

Assures that necessary control procedures are in place to manufacture SSP products to our specifications.

Background/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Quality Management, or Manufacturing Management
  • Minimum 5 years of quality experience leading a quality organization in a manufacturing plant, or 7 years of Quality Engineering.
  • ASQ and Lead Auditor Certifications
  • They will also ideally have familiarity with GMP, AS9100, ISO13485 requirements.
  • Experience driving and supporting quality programs and systems.
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Experience with Quality Control System software
